FAQ’s About TISSNET Mock Test

What happened to the TISSNET exam in 2025?

The TISSNET exam has been discontinued from 2024 onwards. For admissions into Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) postgraduate programs, candidates are now evaluated through CAT and CUET PG scores instead of a separate TISSNET exam.

Why was TISSNET discontinued?

TISS discontinued its standalone entrance test to streamline admissions and align with national-level entrance exams like CAT and CUET PG, ensuring a standardized evaluation process for postgraduate admissions.

What entrance exams are accepted for TISS admissions now?

TISS now accepts CAT (Common Admission Test) and CUET PG (Common University Entrance Test – Postgraduate) scores for admission into various postgraduate programs.

How can I prepare for TISS admissions after TISSNET cancellation?

You should focus on preparing for CAT and CUET PG exams. These tests now determine eligibility, so practicing aptitude, reasoning, English, and domain-specific questions is essential for TISS admission.

Are TISSNET mock tests still useful after the exam was discontinued?

Yes, TISSNET mock tests are still useful as practice material because they help build basics in verbal ability, logical reasoning, and quantitative aptitude, which overlap with CAT and CUET PG patterns.

Can TISS previous year question papers still help in preparation?

Yes, TISSNET previous year question papers are still helpful for understanding question patterns, difficulty levels, and conceptual coverage, even though the exam format has changed.

What is the best way to prepare for CAT and CUET PG for TISS admission?

A strong preparation strategy includes daily practice in quantitative aptitude, reading comprehension, logical reasoning, and mock tests. Regular analysis of performance is key to improving accuracy and speed.

How often should I take mock tests for CAT and CUET PG?

You should ideally take at least one full-length mock test per week initially, and increase frequency to 2–3 per week closer to the exam to improve time management and exam temperament.

What subjects are important for TISS admission through CAT and CUET PG?

Key areas include verbal ability, reading comprehension, quantitative aptitude, logical reasoning, and subject-specific topics depending on the chosen postgraduate program.

What is the difficulty level of CAT and CUET PG compared to TISSNET?

CAT is generally more difficult, especially in quantitative aptitude and reasoning. CUET PG is moderate but more syllabus-based. Together, they are more comprehensive than the old TISSNET format.

What are the marking schemes in CAT and CUET PG?

CAT includes negative marking (-1 for wrong MCQ answers), while CUET PG also includes negative marking in MCQs. Both require accuracy along with speed to score well.

Can TISSNET preparation still help in CAT and CUET PG?

Yes, TISSNET preparation builds foundational skills in English, reasoning, and basic math, which are directly useful for CAT and CUET PG preparation.

How important is time management in CAT and CUET PG exams?

Time management is extremely important because both exams are section-timed and require quick decision-making. Practicing mocks under timed conditions is essential.

What are common mistakes students make during mock test preparation?

Common mistakes include not analyzing mistakes, skipping difficult questions blindly, poor time allocation, and not simulating real exam conditions during practice.

How should I simulate real exam conditions while practicing?

You should take full-length mocks in a quiet environment, strictly follow time limits, avoid breaks, and attempt papers exactly like a real exam to build exam readiness.
