The University of Kashmir, commonly referred to as Kashmir University, stands as one of the most esteemed institutions of higher learning in India. Recently, the university received re-accreditation with an impressive ‘A+’ grade from the NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council). In the NIRF (National Institutional Ranking Framework) 2023, it has secured the 33rd position among the premier universities in the country. The main campus, which spans an expansive 247 acres, is divided into three distinct areas: Hazratbal Campus, Naseem Bagh Campus and Mirza Bagh Campus. Founded in 1969 (a significant year), the University of Kashmir emerged from the University of Jammu and Kashmir. This latter institution, established in 1948, underwent a division, resulting in the formation of both the University of Jammu and the University of Kashmir in 1969. Kashmir University has, however, received accreditation from NAAC, earning a commendable grade.
The University of Kashmir offers a diverse array of facilities to its students (this includes) residential accommodations, an extensive library, sports amenities, a cafeteria, an auditorium, medical services and numerous additional resources. Separate hostels are available for boys and girls; however, all essential amenities are provided within these hostels. The university library boasts a substantial collection of books and other academic resources, which are vital for aiding students in their studies. Although the facilities are comprehensive, some students may still seek additional support (because of varying academic needs).
