Kuvempu University is a public state university located in Shimoga, Karnataka. It was established in 1987 (by the act of the Karnataka state legislature) on 29 January 1989, under the Karnataka State University Act of 1976. This institution gained recognition from the University Grant Commission (UGC) in 1994. Furthermore, it is a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). However, the university has faced various challenges, but it continues to thrive.
