Yenepoya University is a deemed university approved by the Ministry of Human Resource Development and the University Grants Commission (UGC). It was founded in 2008 in Mangalore, Karnataka. It provides a wide range of undergraduate, graduate, and doctorate medical courses. As required by the Supreme Court, students must pass the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET UG), administered by CBSE, in order to be admitted to the MBBS and BDS programmes. In a same vein, candidates must pass the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET PG), administered by the NBE in accordance with Supreme Court regulations, in order to be admitted to the MD and MS programmes.
The five-year Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) programme and the 5.5-year Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) programme are two of Yenepoya University's well-known undergraduate medical education offerings. 100 places are set aside by the university for BDS and 150 seats for MBBS. Candidates must have completed the 10+2 level with a minimum cumulative score of 50% in the Science stream in order to be admitted to any programme. Candidates must also pass the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET UG), which is administered by CBSE in accordance with Supreme Court regulations. Notably, the university ensures fair opportunity for all prospective medical students by relaxing the eligibility requirements by 5% for candidates who fall under the SC/ST category.

A one-year internship, an MBBS degree from any university or institution recognised by MCI, and registration with the State Medical Council or Indian Medical Council are requirements for candidates seeking admission to MD and MS programmes. Candidates for admission to the MDS programme must hold a BDS degree from any accredited college or university. The National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET PG), administered by the NBE, must be passed in order to be admitted to MD and MS programmes. The Karnataka Examinations Authority handles MDS course counseling.
