Struggling With Chandigarh NEET UG Counselling? Here's What Students Are Asking on Reddit

If you're facing uncertainties with the Chandigarh NEET UG counselling, you're not alone. Many students share similar struggles on Reddit, especially around seat allocation and registration. Let’s look at two recent cases that reflect these challenges:

Reddit User in r/Chandigarh posted:

“What is the expected cutoff for Chandigarh NEET UG counselling for GMCH Chandigarh? I’ve scored 530 marks, but not sure if I stand a chance for MBBS.”

  • Insight: The expected cutoff for GMCH Chandigarh for the general category, based on recent trends, is likely around a rank of 25,000 with marks close to 530. Students in a similar situation might still have a chance based on their category and preferences.

Another Reddit User in r/Neet_india shared:

“My rank is not good enough for GMCH Chandigarh, and I’m worried about the seat allocation process. Can I still get a seat in another round if not allotted in the first?”

  • Insight: Even if you’re not allotted a seat in the first round, there’s a chance for upward movement in subsequent rounds. Many students in this position take part in the mop-up round, where unfilled seats from previous rounds are redistributed.

What Do We Infer From the Above Cases?

The struggles and concerns expressed by students show a few key takeaways for those navigating Chandigarh NEET UG Counselling:

  • Cutoffs Can Vary by Category: If you're unsure about securing a seat, review the seat matrix and expected cutoffs for each category and round.
  • Upward Movement Is Key: If your seat allocation isn’t ideal, there’s still hope in later rounds or the mop-up round. Be sure to apply for upward movement and keep your preferences up to date.

FAQs for Chandigarh NEET UG Counselling 2025

Can I apply for the Chandigarh NEET UG counselling if I am from another state?

Yes, candidates from other states can apply for the All India Quota (AIQ) seats. However, the UT Pool seats are reserved for Chandigarh residents only, with a valid domicile certificate.

What should I do if I am unable to attend the document verification in person?

If you cannot attend the document verification in person, you must notify the GMCH authorities beforehand. In some cases, they may allow an alternate arrangement or a representative, but this depends on the policies set for that year.

What if I miss the last date for registration?

Missing the registration deadline will disqualify you from the counselling process. It’s crucial to complete your registration within the specified time frame, as no extensions will be given.

Are there any specific instructions for candidates with special categories like PwD?

Yes, candidates applying under the PwD category must submit the necessary disability certificate issued by a recognised medical authority. These candidates are eligible for the 5% reserved seats under the PwD quota.

How do I know if I have been allotted a seat in the counselling rounds?

The seat allotment results will be published on the official GMCH admissions portal. Candidates can check their status by logging into their registered account.

Can I change my preferences after locking them?

No, once the preferences are locked, they cannot be modified. However, candidates can update their preferences during the subsequent rounds before finalising and locking them.

What happens if I don’t accept my allotted seat?

If you don’t accept your allotted seat, you will not be considered for the subsequent rounds. You will be disqualified from securing admission for that particular academic year.

Do I need to pay any fees before the final reporting to the college?

Yes, a seat acceptance fee is required after seat allotment. This fee confirms your seat, but it is refundable if you choose to withdraw before the final reporting.

Is there an opportunity for upward movement in seat allotment?

Yes, candidates who are not satisfied with their seat allotment can participate in the upward movement process in the subsequent rounds, based on available seats.

What happens during the Mop-Up round?

The Mop-Up round is for candidates who were not allotted a seat in previous rounds. It is conducted if any seats remain vacant after the second round of allotment, offering candidates a final chance to secure a seat.

How are the seats distributed between the AIQ and UT Pool?

For the Chandigarh NEET UG 2025 counselling, 15% of the total seats are reserved under the All India Quota (AIQ), while the remaining 85% are allocated for candidates from Chandigarh under the UT Pool.

Can I participate in the Spot Round if I didn’t get a seat earlier?

Yes, if seats are still available after all previous rounds, candidates can participate in the Spot Round, which allows them a final opportunity to secure a seat in their preferred course.
