About Presidency University, Bangalore

Presidency University is a private university established in 2013 under the Karnataka Act No. 41 of 2013. Located at Rajanukunte, Yelahanka, Bengaluru (Pin: 560119), the university is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956, approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), and accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). The sprawling 62-acre campus is situated close to Kempegowda International Airport and offers a comprehensive learning environment across ten schools of study.

Presidency University offers programmes across Engineering, Management, Commerce, Law, Design, Media Studies, Liberal Arts & Sciences, Information Science, and Allied Health Sciences — making it one of Bangalore's most multi-disciplinary private universities. The university awards degrees autonomously; no external affiliating university is involved.

For the 2026-27 admissions cycle, applications are open on the official portal at apply.presidencyuniversity.in. The admission cycle typically opens in January each year, with the academic year commencing in July–August.

Entrance Exams Accepted by Presidency University (as of 2025-26)

Presidency University accepts scores from national, state, and its own institutional entrance examinations. The accepted exams vary by programme stream:

Subjects to Study and Preparation Strategy

For Engineering (B.Tech / M.Tech) Aspirants

The entrance tests accepted for B.Tech — JEE Main, KCET, COMEDK, and PAT — primarily test the following subjects:

  • Physics: Mechanics, Thermodynamics, Waves & Sound, Optics, Electrostatics, Electromagnetism, Modern Physics
  • Mathematics: Algebra, Trigonometry, Coordinate Geometry, Calculus (Differential & Integral), Matrices & Determinants, Probability & Statistics, Vectors
  • Chemistry: Physical Chemistry (Equilibrium, Electrochemistry, Thermodynamics), Organic Chemistry (reaction mechanisms, named reactions), Inorganic Chemistry (periodic table, chemical bonding)

For Management (MBA) Aspirants

CAT, XAT, MAT, CMAT, KMAT, and ATMA test:

  • Quantitative Aptitude: Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry, Number Theory
  • Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension
  • Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning
  • General Awareness / Business Knowledge (for some exams)

For Law Aspirants

CLAT and LSAT test English Language, Current Affairs and GK, Legal Reasoning, Logical Reasoning, and Quantitative Techniques.

For Design Aspirants

UCEED tests Visualisation and Spatial Ability, Environmental and Social Awareness, Analytical and Logical Reasoning, Language and Creativity, Design Aptitude, and Observation.

Preparation Material and Tips

Recommended Study Resources

  • NCERT textbooks (Classes 11 and 12): The foundation for Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics for engineering aspirants.
  • HC Verma – Concepts of Physics: Widely used for in-depth Physics preparation for JEE and KCET.
  • RD Sharma / SL Loney: For comprehensive Mathematics practice.
  • Arihant / MTG series: Subject-wise solved papers for JEE Main, KCET, and COMEDK.
  • CAT/MBA prep: Arun Sharma's Quantitative Aptitude, Verbal Ability by Nishit Sinha, and LRDI by Arun Sharma or Career Launcher material.
  • CLAT prep: Universal's Guide to CLAT, Pearson Guide to CLAT, and daily newspaper reading (The Hindu / Indian Express) for current affairs.
  • Mock tests: Official mock tests from NTA (JEE), KEA (KCET), and COMEDK, supplemented by coaching institute test series.

Preparation Tips and Tricks

  • Start early: Ideally begin serious preparation 12–18 months before the exam. Consistent daily study of 4–6 hours yields better results than last-minute cramming.
  • Master the syllabus: Download the official syllabus for your target exam and map your preparation against it. Do not spend time on out-of-syllabus topics.
  • Practice previous year papers: Solving the last 5–10 years of question papers gives insight into question patterns, weightage by chapter, and time management.
  • Focus on weak areas: Take a diagnostic test early on and allocate more time to topics where your accuracy is low.
  • Solve mock tests under exam conditions: Simulate the actual exam environment — time-bound, no external help — to build exam temperament and identify time traps.
  • Revise regularly: A chapter studied but not revised is a chapter forgotten. Schedule weekly and monthly revision cycles.
  • For the Personal Interview at Presidency University: Stay updated on current affairs, know the course you have applied for, and be prepared to discuss your academic and extracurricular background clearly.
