Deciding on what stream to choose while planning for your child’s future is a long haul. Given the fact that the future of your child heavily depends on this decision also makes it extremely crucial. There are several factors involved here that one needs to consider before making a conclusive decision related to this.

We are here to help your decision making process easier with this step-by-step guide :

Step 1 - Discuss with your child to understand their inclination towards certain fields - whether engineering or medical.

Step 2 - Introduce your child to multiple disciplines under each field, for instance :

  • Engineering-Mechanical, chemical, civil, Computer Science, Information Technology etc
  • Medical - Allopathic medicine, ayurvedic medicine, dental, homeopathy, veterinary medicine etc

Step 3 - Monitor your children’s performance and assess their strengths in subjects

Step 4 - Focus on strengthening the weaker subjects

Step 5 - List all the courses aligning your child’s interest & strengths

Step 6 - List top 10 colleges for each course suitable for your child, based on factors like - reputation, ranking, & placement records

Step 7 - Make a list mapping which colleges have which courses & disciplines

Step 8 - Use internet to find out the cut-off scores for each college & course in the last 3-4 years

Step 9 - Aim to achieve higher than previous years highest cut-off score, that way you increase your chances of getting through to your desired college

Step 10 - Create a preparation strategy keeping in mind topic weightage & your strengths

Step 11 - Keep a look out for any news or updates related to these colleges :

  • You will stay updated on when the forms will get released  and when the exam would be conducted
  • Also, if the institute is capturing headlines due to any specific positive or negative reason
