Maharashtra NEET UG Counselling 2026: Step-by-Step Process

The Centralised Admission Process (CAP) ensures transparent, merit-based seat allocation across government, private and minority medical, dental and AYUSH colleges in Maharashtra. The process moves fully online except for physical document verification at the allotted college.

Step 1: Registration

  1. Visit the Maharashtra NEET UG 2026 portal once the CET Cell publishes the link (the 2025 portal was medicalug2025.mahacet.org; the 2026 URL will be notified on cetcell.mahacet.org).
  2. Click on New Registration and read the instructions.
  3. Enter your NEET UG 2026 Roll Number, Application Number, Date of Birth, Mobile Number and Email ID.
  4. Verify with the OTP received on mobile and email, then Create Account.
  5. Sign in and complete the application form with personal, academic, category and domicile details.
  6. Upload scanned documents (within the file-size limits specified in the brochure).
  7. Pay the application processing fee online; save and print the confirmation page.

Note: Once submitted, the application cannot be edited. Verify every field before final submission.

Step 2: Application Processing Fee (2025 ref)

CourseState Quota (INR)Institute Quota (INR)Both Quotas (INR)
MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS, BUMS1,0005,0006,000
BPTh, BOTh, BASLP, B(P&O)1,0001,0002,000

Keep the fee receipt, the filled application form copy and the information brochure for reference during institute reporting.

Step 3: Provisional Merit List

After document scrutiny, the CET Cell publishes the provisional state merit list. Raise grievances within the notified window — corrections after the final merit list are usually not entertained.

Step 4: Seat Matrix

Before choice filling, DMER / CET Cell releases the course-wise and college-wise seat matrix in PDF. Study the matrix carefully — state-quota, institute-quota, minority-quota and management-quota seats are listed separately.

Step 5: Choice Filling

Eligible candidates log in and fill preferences for course-college combinations in order of priority. The choices entered in Round 1 are carried into subsequent rounds and cannot be changed mid-round.

Step 6: Counselling Result and Seat Allotment

Round-wise allotment results are published as PDFs. Check your status by NEET roll number or application number. Allotted candidates report to the institute within the notified window for fee payment and joining.

Step 7: Document Verification

Physical document verification at the allotted institute is mandatory. Carry originals and one set of self-attested photocopies. Non-reporting forfeits the allotment and may attract penalties under NMC norms.
