Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science based in Chennai, Tamil Nadu was founded in 1985. It is known as a Deemed University within the definitions of section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956. In the areas of engineering, management sciences, art, and commerce, Hindustan University offers different types of courses – undergraduate (UG), Integrated, Postgraduate (PG), Diploma, Postgraduate Diploma (PGD), M. Phil., as well as Ph. D courses. Apart from the full-time courses, HITS also offers distance learning programmes through its Centre for Online and Distance Learning (CODL). The courses are imparted through 13 on-campus schools and centres of studies under various departments.
Established in 1985, Hindustan College of Engineering was conferred the status of a university under the name Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science (HITS). It is a deemed-to-be University recognised by the UGC, the AICTE, the AIMA, the SAE International, AIAA, and is a member of AIU and is accredited by the IAO, NAAC with an 'A' Grade, and NBA. At present, the university offers more than 100 courses at UG and PG levels in diverse streams, such as Engineering, Management, Law, Humanities, Science, and more.
Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science (HITS), Chennai has assorted infrastructural amenities that promote the developmental growth of students. In HITS Chennai there are two separate hostels serving both boys and girls, they are all provided with furnished rooms equipped with standard air conditioners in each bedroom; all have their own bathrooms attached to them. Also, HITS Chennai has six seminar halls where seminars or presentations can be held; all these halls In HITS Chennai, there is a Central Library with a lot of books and magazines. To make sure that both staff members and students are safe, the campus has a 24-hour IP camera surveillance system run through 421 CCTV cameras. Other facilities in the HITS Chennai campus are a gymnasium, sports facilities, canteen, auditorium, medical facilities, Wi-Fi, IT infrastructure, transport facility, and convenience store are conditioned such that there is always fresh air circulation throughout them.
