IGNOU conducts admissions twice a year, in January and July. Registrations for the January session typically take place in December-January, while those for the July session begin in May. As the world’s largest open university, IGNOU offers over 200 distance learning programs, with its degrees recognized globally and equivalent to those from accredited institutions.

The university provides a wide range of UG, PG, Diploma, Certificate, and PhD programs. Admission to most courses is merit-based, considering marks obtained in the qualifying examination. However, for programs like B.Ed, M.Ed, Post Basic B.Sc Nursing, M.Phil, and Ph.D., candidates must clear entrance exams such as the IGNOU B.Ed Entrance Test, IGNOU OPENNET, and IGNOU PhD Entrance Exam.

In addition to traditional distance learning, IGNOU also offers Online Distance Learning (ODL) programs, allowing students and professionals to attend online lectures without the need for physical classes. Admissions can be completed through both online and offline modes. Online applications are available on the university’s official website (ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in), and students must submit their forms before the specified deadlines. For offline admissions, applicants must visit the nearest IGNOU regional center, though this option is limited to select courses and centers.

Application Process for IGNOU

1. Visit the official IGNOU online admission portal and register by providing your name, email, mobile number, and creating a username and password.
2. Log in using your credentials and select the desired program, then fill out the application form with accurate personal and educational details.
3. Upload scanned copies of required documents, including a recent passport-sized photograph, signature, educational qualifications, and category certificate if applicable.
4. Pay the application fee through available online payment options such as credit/debit cards or net banking. The fee depends on the program selected.
5. Review all entered information and uploaded documents carefully before submitting the application form.
6. Once submitted, a confirmation message will be sent to your registered email and mobile number.
7. After submission, download and print the filled-in application form for future reference.

IGNOU UG & PG Admission

IGNOU offers BA, B.Com, BBA, B.Sc, BCA, BPP, BSW, BLIS courses in various specializations at the UG level. The courses are offered through distance learning mode for a duration of 3 years. BPP and BLIS courses are offered for a duration of 1 year. Admission to these courses is done on the basis of merit in the class 12 examination. IGNOU offers MA, M.Sc, M.Com, MCA, MSW, MLIS, MTTM, and MBA courses in various specializations at the PG level. The courses are offered for a duration of 2 years and can be extended up to 4 years. However, the duration of the MLIS course is 1 year. Admission to these courses is solely done on the basis of merit in the qualifying degree.

IGNOU Entrance-Based Admission

IGNOU conducts its own entrance exam for admission to programs such as MBA, B.Ed, M.Ed, Post Basic B.Sc Nursing, M.Phil, and Ph.D. Candidates must take the respective entrance test, and those who qualify may be required to attend a personal interview for the final selection process.
