What is COAP?
The Common Offer Acceptance Portal (COAP) was launched in 2017 to help candidates choose their preferred M.Tech admission offers from participating IITs or Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) job offers. Initially, eight IITs were part of COAP, but now, 24 IITs and one PSU (NPCIL) participate in the process to fill M.Tech seats.

COAP 2026: Registration Process

STEP 1: Register on COAP

Candidates must apply directly to the IITs for M.Tech admissions or PSUs for job opportunities. While applying, they must enter their COAP registration number in the application form.
STEP 3: Rounds of Offers
COAP releases are offered in multiple rounds as per the official schedule. If a candidate receives an offer, it will be displayed on their COAP dashboard.
STEP 4: Selecting an Offer
Candidates can choose from the following options:
- "Accept and Freeze" – Finalise the selected offer and exit further rounds.
- "Retain and Wait" – Keep the offer while waiting for better options in the following rounds.
- "Reject All Above and Wait" – Decline all current offers and wait for new ones.
Candidates must confirm their selection by clicking OK and then "Freeze Decision" when satisfied.
STEP 5: Complete Admission on the Institute/PSU Website
Once candidates have accepted and finalised an offer, they must visit the respective IIT/PSU's official website. They must complete the admission/job joining formalities per the institute's/PSU's guidelines and deadlines.

GATE COAP 2026: Seat Allotment
Once the seat allotment is done during the COAP counselling process, candidates must confirm their seats with the available options.
