CUET rank impacts your admission process by determining your placement in the merit list of universities. Moreover, the CUET marks vs rank data helps in predicting your chances of getting into your desired college by comparing marks with previous years’ trends.

Now that we've explored CUET rank lists, let's look at whether all CUET-recognised universities release their own.

What Students Are Discussing About CUET Ranks and Counselling in 2025!

The CUET rank is a key determinant in securing admission to top universities, making it essential to understand how your marks translate into rank and eligibility.

Here are some of the recent Reddit posts highlighting the discussion about CUET ranks and counselling in 2025:

A Reddit user in r/delhi posted:

“My brother cleared his 12th this year with 63% and now got his CUET(UG) results, which are not even 300. It's pretty bad, but not everyone is good with studies. I just want him to get into a decent college (even if it's private) and not into colleges like Dronacharya and Amity, which would jeopardise stuff (uk what I mean). Any suggestions??

P.S. I am thinking of sending him to Gujarat (the dry state), any advice in that direction would also be helpful.”

Insights: Students with lower CUET scores (below 300) and average board marks are still trying to find credible private or state universities that offer reasonable academics and placement opportunities. There’s growing concern about avoiding low-tier private institutions and exploring better options in other states like Gujarat.

Also, another Reddit user in r/JEENEETards posted:

“It is also an entrance exam like other exams, so why do people hate CUET?? I see Instagram comments and people making fun of this exam. BTW, I am not giving CUET, just asking.”

Insights: There’s a perceived stigma around CUET; some students and social media circles see it as “less prestigious” compared to exams like JEE or NEET. However, this belief is often based on misinformation, as CUET is now the primary gateway for over 250 central and participating universities, including DU, BHU, and JNU.

What do we infer from the above cases?

Counseling and the admission process for students after CUET exams is a concern for students.

  • Students with non-competitive CUET scores still hope for a quality education, demonstrating a demand for transparent private university counselling support.
  • Many students (and their parents) lack awareness of mid-range or state-level institutions that accept CUET and offer decent academic quality.
  • The perception problem around CUET still exists, despite it being a national-level entrance test used by some of India’s most reputed universities.

Tip: If your CUET score is under 300, consider exploring state-level universities in Gujarat, Rajasthan, and the North-East region that accept lower ranks with decent outcomes.

Do all CUET-Recognised Universities Release The CUET Rank List?

No, not all CUET-recognised universities release a CUET-specific rank list. While the NTA conducts the CUET, preparing and publishing the merit list is the responsibility of the participating universities. Certain universities may use a combination of external criteria for their admission processes, and the publication of merit lists may vary significantly.

University-Specific Merit Lists

Universities such as DU, BHU, and JNU release their merit lists based on CUET scores and other academic details, including Class 12 marks.

Category Specific

Merit lists are often course-specific and may differ across categories (e.g., General, OBC, SC/ST). For instance, DU has implemented the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS) for CUET-based admissions.

No Common Rank List

The NTA does not release a standard CUET rank list; instead, each university determines its own submission and admission processes.

Counselling and Admission

Merit lists of universities are a primary factor that can influence the extension of admission offers, and counselling processes may vary accordingly.

Regular Updates

Most CUET-recognised universities may update their merit lists in multiple rounds, particularly when vacant seats become available after initial admissions.

CUET Counselling Process in 2025

According to official estimates, 10,71,735 candidates appeared for CUET UG 2025. Universities conduct the CUET UG counselling processes and have specific criteria that vary significantly.

Here are some of the stages of the CUET counselling process that you should know:

Registration

After the result declaration, you must register on the official portal of the respective university to proceed with the following steps.

Choice Filling

You need to choose your preferred course and college during the counselling registration. It is a critical step as it governs the seat allocation process.

Seat Allotment

Depending on your CUET scores, preferences, and reservation status, CUET-recognised universities release seats that you can accept within a stipulated time frame.

Document Verification

You must verify your documents, such as your CUET scorecard, academic details, category certificates, and other relevant documents, at this stage, whether online or offline.

Fee Payment and Admission Confirmation

With successful document verification, candidates are required to pay the admission fee to confirm their seats. Failure to do so will result in the cancellation of seats.

Understanding the CUET rank and its correlation with your admission prospects is crucial for making informed decisions about your higher education journey. By exploring the CUET rank list, cut-offs, and the counselling process, you can strategically assess your options for top universities and courses. To maximise your chances of admission, stay updated on university-specific processes and align your CUET marks with the rank requirements of your preferred institutions.
