Frequently Asked Questions About IndiGo Pilot Training
Are loans or financial aid options available?
Yes. Many NBFCs offer education loans tailored explicitly for the IndiGo Cadet Pilot Programme. These cover training fees, accommodation, and living expenses, with repayment plans available after placement. Several partner schools also offer scholarships and flexible payment options.
Can holders of foreign CPL convert to the IndiGo pathway?
Yes, foreign CPL holders can join. They must first convert their licence to a DGCA-compliant CPL (with IR) and also complete an A320 type rating in India before stepping into the programme.
What happens if a candidate fails a module?
Candidates receive up to two attempts per selection stage, such as the aptitude test or interview. After two failures, they are generally disqualified from further eligibility for the programme.
Is a repayment or service bond required?
Yes, cadets must sign a training agreement that includes a multi-year service bond with IndiGo. Early exit or contract breach typically triggers repayment clauses for incurred training costs.
Can existing licence holders apply?
Yes. Applicants holding valid licences such as DGCA, Indian PPL/CPL, or foreign licences are allowed to apply. Still, they must meet selection criteria, licence conversion (if foreign), and type rating requirements to qualify.
What support does IndiGo offer if a candidate fails one selection stage?
Candidates get up to two attempts per stage (written, group assessment, interview) with cooling-off periods between each. Beyond that, future attempts are not permitted by IndiGo.
Is an academic qualification via open schooling, like NIOS, accepted?
Yes. Candidates missing Maths, Physics, or English in Class 12 can complete these via NIOS with at least 51% in each subject and remain eligible.
Do assessment fees apply at multiple stages?
An initial application and screening are free, but candidates pay a non-refundable assessment fee (~INR 2500/USD 400) before ADAPT testing and further selection stages.
Is accommodation or travel covered during training?
Some FTOs include self-catered accommodation during phases in the programme fee, but travel, visa, and living costs during international training are usually separate.
Is there a contractual service bond post-training?
Yes. Cadets sign a Cadet Pilot Agreement and Training Contract that includes a mandatory service commitment (usually 5–6 years) with IndiGo or repayment clauses upon early exit.
What happens if medical fitness standards change mid-training?
Candidates must maintain a valid DGCA Class 1 medical certificate throughout selection and training. Failure to meet standards at any point may lead to disqualification.
Do cadets receive airline-standard documentation before training starts?
Successful candidates receive a Letter of Intent (LOI) from IndiGo outlining all training phases, costs, and post-course employment conditions before signing official contracts.
Are cadets paid or receive any stipend during the training phases?
Cadets do not receive a stipend; full payment of programme fees is required upfront or via structured payment plans before the start of training.
Can current license-holders (e.g., PPL or foreign CPL) apply?
Yes. Candidates holding valid CPL, PPL, or foreign licences may apply, but must complete selection and contractual stages to join the cadet programme.
