Is there an interview round in NIMHANS?

Selection to PhD courses is based on the entrance exam and interview at NIMHANS. There are three interview rounds. The first round is the shortlisting of resumes of the candidates. The second round of the interview is the aptitude test. The third and last round of the interview is group discussion. Students are admitted based on their scores in these three interview rounds as well as the entrance exam.

4. Mark Sheets or Statement of Marks for All Years of a Degree or Diploma Course (If applicable).
5. Registration Certificate of State Nursing Council or Indian Nursing Council (If applicable).
6. Transfer Certificate from School/ College/ Institution, where the applicant last studied.
7. Migration Certificate from Board/Department of Pre-University Education/University, under whom the applicant last studied.
8. Certificate of OBC/ SC/ ST/ PWD OR Domicile of Karnataka/ Chhattisgarh/ Jammu and Kashmir/ Uttarakhand/ Northeastern states (if applicable).
9. Degree Certificate.
10. Attempt Certificate, in case of eligible qualification, is MBBS.
11. Permanent Registration Certificate with either State Medical Council or Medical Council of India in case of eligible qualification being a bachelor's degree in medicine.
12. Internship Completion Certificate, in case of eligible qualification being MBBS.6
13. Experience Certificate, if mandatory as per the ‘General requirement’ section of the respective course.
14. ‘Equivalence Certificate’ from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) for Eligible qualification obtained from a Foreign University/College.

What are the specializations offered for the MD programs at NIMHANS?

NIMHANS offers admission to MD programs in various specializations such as Psychiatry, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation for eligible candidates.

What is the exam pattern of the NIMHANS entrance exam?

The institute conducts an Online entrance examination, the NIMHANS entrance exam. The test consists of multiple-choice objective-type questions that a candidate needs to solve in a duration of 90 minutes. There will be 100 MCQ-type questions. There is a negative marking of 0.25 marks for an incorrect answer. A single common entrance test of 60 minutes duration with 70 questions will be conducted for candidates applying for DM in Neurology and M.Ch. in Neurosurgery courses with MBBS qualification followed by an Entrance Test of 30 minutes duration with 30 questions for each domain and for one wrong answer, 0.25 marks will be deducted.

What are the entrance test centres of NIMHANS?

There are different test centres for Session 1 & Session 2 as follows:

• For PG Courses: Bengaluru, Chennai, Cochin, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, and Pune.
• For UG courses: Bengaluru, Chennai, Cochin, and Hyderabad

Test Center for Session 2 –

• For PG courses: Bengaluru and Delhi

What would happen if a student gets stuck in a tie-breaking situation in the NIMHANS Entrance test?

If two or more candidates, who appeared for the same course, score the same marks in the entrance test, their merit is decided as per the following criteria. Candidates appearing higher in this list are given priority over those under.

• Number of attempts
• Higher marks in qualifying exam
• Older in age
• Less negative marks on the entrance test

Is there any age limit for admission to NIMHANS to any course?

Yes. NIMHANS has age limitation is given below for respective courses:

• For postgraduate medical and Superspeciality courses - age should not be more than 32 years for MBBS degree holders and 37 for PG medical degree holders.
• For all B.Sc. courses (B.Sc. in Nursing, B.Sc. in Radiography, B.Sc. in Anaesthesia Technology, and B.Sc. in Clinical Neurophysiology and Technology), the age of the candidates should be between 17 and 25 years.
