Sastra University is considered to be one of the top engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu. It has a strong reputation for its high-quality engineering education and research programs, experienced faculty, and modern infrastructure.

SASTRA University is far better than some of the lower NITs in India. Placements: More than 90 percent of students who do not have any backlogs got placed with a company. The average package offered here was 8–9 LPA. The top recruiting companies are TCS, Bosch, and many other top companies.
It's very strict in every aspect like attendance, roll call (in the hostel), and health (my college does not even allow soft drinks because they are not good for health). Inside the campus non-veg is not permitted.
Cons: SASTRA University is located in Thanjavur, which may not be an accessible position for all scholars. The universities freight may be high for some scholars. Some scholars may find the focus on academics to be violent, with a heavy workload and high prospects.
No third party intervention will be entertained under any circumstances. Ragging is a cognizable offence and any form of ragging either inside or outside the campus is totally prohibited. Indulging in ragging will result in expulsion from the University and/or imprisonment up to three years.

Admission to all the BTech courses is subject to JEE Main scores and Class 12 scores(given equal weightage) for 50% of the seats and is subject to Class 12 scores for the remaining 50% of the seats. However, as per the official website, there is no fixed or specific cutoff to get a seat here. It depends on the students who score the highest marks. If a student has appeared for JEE Main then they need to apply under stream 1 of admission. Additionally, as per the data available on the internet, if a student has a score of 90-95% in Class 12 and 50-120 in JEE Main, there is a high possibility of getting admission.
Earlier, SASTRA University application process was conducted in both online and offline modes. However, 2022 onwards, the process has shifted completely to online mode.
The candidate must have passed 10+2 from a recognized board or should have a Diploma in Dance from any recognized institution including Nrityodaya to be eligible for BFA course.
Sastra University offers the following distance learning courses: BA, B.Ed., BFA at UG level and MA and MFA at PG level. The university also offers Diploma programmes through its distance education.
The fee of the M.A. program is INR 42,400. The duration of the course is 2 years.
Candidates are selected for PhD program based on the valid score in entrance exam conducted by the Sastra University followed by interview. However, Candidates qualifying in UGC-NET (including JRF) / UGC-CSIR NET (including JRF) / GATE / UPSC / any other recognised competitive exam are exempted from the entrance test and can directly appear for interview.
