Is Sastra University good for engineering?

Sastra University is considered to be one of the top engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu. It has a strong reputation for its high-quality engineering education and research programs, experienced faculty, and modern infrastructure.

How is the campus life at Sastra University?

The college organizes fests, workshops and seminars on a regular basis. The students actively participate in the extracurricular activities in the college. The sports wing also grabs the attention of the students by organizing various competitions.

 How are the hostel facilities at SASTRA University?

There are nine houses for boys and five for girls. First Year B.Tech. Students are housed in shared flats. Embarkation fees depend on the actual sharing scheme and are around Rs 3,000 per month. You can Suppose you stay 10 months in a calendar year. From the second year, single, twin, triple and quadruple rooms are available (with or without a bathroom). The annual rent varies depending on the type of room facility availed.

Is Sastra University recognized by UGC?

Yes, Sastra University is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and is also accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with an "A" grade.

Is SASTRA good or bad?

SASTRA University is far better than some of the lower NITs in India. Placements: More than 90 percent of students who do not have any backlogs got placed with a company. The average package offered here was 8–9 LPA. The top recruiting companies are TCS, Bosch, and many other top companies.

Is SASTRA Hostel strict?

It's very strict in every aspect like attendance, roll call (in the hostel), and health (my college does not even allow soft drinks because they are not good for health). Inside the campus non-veg is not permitted.

What are the disadvantages of SASTRA University?

Cons: SASTRA University is located in Thanjavur, which may not be an accessible position for all scholars. The universities freight may be high for some scholars. Some scholars may find the focus on academics to be violent, with a heavy workload and high prospects.

Is there any ragging in SASTRA University? 

No third party intervention will be entertained under any circumstances. Ragging is a cognizable offence and any form of ragging either inside or outside the campus is totally prohibited. Indulging in ragging will result in expulsion from the University and/or imprisonment up to three years.

 Does SASTRA University Chennai accept CUET?

Can I join SASTRA without JEE?

Admission to all the BTech courses is subject to JEE Main scores and Class 12 scores(given equal weightage) for 50% of the seats and is subject to Class 12 scores for the remaining 50% of the seats. However, as per the official website, there is no fixed or specific cutoff to get a seat here. It depends on the students who score the highest marks. If a student has appeared for JEE Main then they need to apply under stream 1 of admission. Additionally, as per the data available on the internet, if a student has a score of 90-95% in Class 12 and 50-120 in JEE Main, there is a high possibility of getting admission.

How can I apply for SASTRA University admission?

Earlier, SASTRA University application process was conducted in both online and offline modes. However, 2022 onwards, the process has shifted completely to online mode.

1. Aspirants seeking admission can visit the official website of the deemed university, apply online and pay the application fee.
2. Further, they have to go through the selection rounds and counselling process and then confirm their seat on payment of the admission tuition fee.
3. Candidates will be able to apply for the respective courses by visiting the official website of the university.

What is the eligibility criteria for BFA at Sastra University?

The candidate must have passed 10+2 from a recognized board or should have a Diploma in Dance from any recognized institution including Nrityodaya to be eligible for BFA course.

Which distance learning courses are offered by Sastra University?

Sastra University offers the following distance learning courses: BA, B.Ed., BFA at UG level and MA and MFA at PG level. The university also offers Diploma programmes through its distance education.

What is the fee and duration of the M.A program?

The fee of the M.A. program is INR 42,400. The duration of the course is 2 years.

What are the qualifying examinations accepted for admission to PhD program at Sastra Univeristy?

Candidates are selected for PhD program based on the valid score in entrance exam conducted by the Sastra University followed by interview. However, Candidates qualifying in UGC-NET (including JRF) / UGC-CSIR NET (including JRF) / GATE / UPSC / any other recognised competitive exam are exempted from the entrance test and can directly appear for interview.

Will I get admitted to Sastra University BTech program If I have not appeared for JEE Main exam?

Yes, you can be admitted to Sastra University BTech program even if you have not appeared for JEE Main exam since 50% of seats of Btech program are based on normalized 10+2 aggregate.

Can I reserve my seat under merit based admission category of Sastra University?

No, you cannot reserve seat under merit based admission category of Sastra University because admission is offered only based on merit after rank list is released.
