JEE Advanced 2025, organised by IIT Kanpur, will have registrations starting on April 23, 2025, and closing on May 2, 2025. The exam is set for May 18, 2025, and will be held in CBT mode across 222 cities in India and two abroad. Candidates must meet the JEE Main 2025 cutoff and rank in the top 2.5 lakh to be eligible. Those who completed or will complete class 12 in 2025 can apply, but can attempt JEE Advanced only twice in consecutive years.
The exam consists of two papers covering Maths, Physics, and Chemistry, each lasting 3 hours. Candidates must attempt both papers to qualify for IIT admissions.

What is the JEE Advanced Exam?
The JEE Advanced Entrance exam is the second-level exam for students who wish to pursue a degree at the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). It is only open to the top 2.5 lakh candidates from the JEE Main exam. What's New in the JEE Advanced Exam 2025: Changes in Attempt Limit
There have been some significant updates to the JEE Advanced exam attempt limit:
1. Initial Announcement (Nov 5, 2024)
IIT Kanpur initially increased the attempt limit for JEE Advanced from two attempts in two consecutive years to three attempts in three straight years.
2. Restoration of Old Limit (Nov 18, 2024)
However, on November 18, 2024, IIT Kanpur reverted to the old limit of two attempts in two consecutive years.
3. Protests
This abrupt change led to protests from JEE aspirants, who were affected by the alteration in the eligibility criteria.
4. Legal Action
A group of 22 JEE aspirants took the matter to the Supreme Court to challenge the sudden change in the attempt limit for JEE Advanced 2025.
5. Supreme Court Ruling (Jan 10, 2025)
The Supreme Court ruled that candidates who appeared for JEE Advanced 2023 are not eligible for JEE Advanced 2025. However, candidates who appeared in 2023 and dropped out between November 5 and 18, 2024, are now eligible for JEE Advanced 2025.
6. Updated Eligibility
IIT Kanpur has now updated the eligibility criteria for JEE Advanced 2025, which can be checked on their official website, jeeadv.ac.in.

Scanned Documents For Online Application Form
Candidates must upload certain scanned documents while filling out the JEE Advanced 2025 online application form. These documents are:
- Class X Certificate (if it mentions the date of birth) or Birth Certificate.
- Class XII (or equivalent) Certificate.
- Proof of Name Change (if the name differs from the Class X certificate, a gazette notification must be provided).

For candidates who dropped out between November 5 and November 18, 2024, additional documents are required:
- Letter from Head of Institution
A stamped and signed letter from the Dean/Principal/Director, per the JEE Advanced 2025 brochure format.
A notarised affidavit on INR 10 stamp paper, following the specified format. If the candidate is above 18, the affidavit must be from them; if under 18, it must be from a parent or legal guardian.
- Withdrawal Letter/Notification
A letter from the college/university/institute confirming the candidate’s withdrawal.

JEE Advanced Exam 2025 Admit Card
The JEE Advanced 2025 admit card will be available for download from May 11, 2025, to May 18, 2025. Candidates who successfully register for JEE Advanced 2025 and pay the application fee will be issued the admit card. The admit card will also specify the test centre.
Here are some essential points related to the admit card:
- The admit card can be accessed through the JEE Advanced 2025 login.
- It must be printed and brought to the exam on the day of the test.
- Candidates must also carry a valid original photo identity card and admit card. Acceptable IDs include:
- Aadhaar Card

- Notarised Certificate with Photograph
Below is the list of items that are allowed in the exam hall:

JEE Advanced Exam 2025: Answer Key and Response Sheet
The provisional answer keys for both Paper 1 and Paper 2 of JEE Advanced 2025 will be available on the official portal on May 22, 2025. After displaying the provisional keys, candidates can challenge the answers if they believe an error exists. Challenges can be submitted through the JEE Advanced candidate portal.
After considering the challenges, the final answer keys will be published. The candidates' scores will then be calculated based on these final keys.
Additionally, candidates who have appeared for both Paper 1 and Paper 2 can view, download, and print their response sheet, which shows the answers they selected during the exam.
JEE Advanced Exam Result 2025
The JEE Advanced 2025 results will be announced online on June 2, 2025. Candidates can log in to the official portal to view their scores and download their scorecard. Text notifications will also be sent to registered mobile numbers. However, individual rank cards will not be sent to candidates.

JEE Advanced Exam Counselling - JoSAA
The counselling for JEE Advanced 2025 will be conducted in June 2025 by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA). During this process, seats across IITs, NITs, IIITs, and other Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs) will be offered and allocated.
