MICAT Result 2026: Process for Shortlisting Candidates for GE and PI

The MICAT 2026 shortlisting process for GE and PI involved multiple stages, each designed to assess the candidates’ overall capabilities and performance. Here’s a breakdown of how the process worked.

1. Psychometric Test as a Qualifier

The Psychometric Test in MICAT 2026 was a mandatory qualifier. All candidates had to pass this test to be eligible for further rounds, such as the Group Exercise (GE) and Personal Interview (PI).

2. Performance Evaluation in Sections

After clearing the Psychometric Test, candidates were assessed based on their performance in Section B (Verbal Ability, Quantitative Ability, General Awareness, and Divergent-Convergent Reasoning).

3. Descriptive Test Evaluation

Candidates who qualified in Section B were then evaluated on their performance in Section C, the Descriptive Test. A strong score here was needed to be considered for the GD and PI shortlist.

4. Shortlist Based on Overall Performance

The final shortlist for GE and PI was created using the combined scores of MICAT I (December 2025) and MICAT II (February 2026), with the better of the two scores considered.

5. Cutoff Marks for Each Section

MICA set a cutoff for Section B and Section C. The MICA Ahmedabad admission committee determines the cutoff marks for these sections. Candidates had to score above these cutoffs to be considered for the GD and PI rounds.

6. GE and PI Centers

Shortlisted candidates appeared for the GE and PI rounds at the designated MICAT centre. The available centres were in major cities, including Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Bangalore, Mumbai, and Delhi.

7. Final Merit List

Once the GE and PI rounds were conducted, the final merit list for MICAT 2026 was released on 14 April 2026. This list was based on performance in all stages, including the exam, GD, and PI.

MICAT Result 2026: Marking Scheme Overview

Understanding the MICAT 2026 marking scheme is crucial for evaluating your performance and identifying improvement areas. The exam is divided into three main sections, each with its own scoring pattern.

Below are the key details of the marking scheme.

1. Section A: Psychometric Test

This section is a qualifying round with no negative marking. However, candidates must pass it to advance in the selection process.

2. Section B: Descriptive Test

Similar to Section A, this part also carries no negative marking. Candidates are required to write explanatory answers, testing their writing and analytical skills.

3. Section C

This section is divided into four subsections. In this section, candidates lose 0.25 marks for every incorrect answer.

  1. Verbal Ability
  2. Divergent and Convergent Thinking
  3. Data Interpretation and Quantitative Reasoning
  4. Quantitative Reasoning

How to Calculate Scaled Scores for MICAT 2026?

To better understand your MICAT 2026 performance, it’s essential to grasp how the scaled scores are calculated. Scaled scores provide a normalised way of assessing your performance across different MICAT I and II sections.

Here’s how the scaled scoring works.

1. The formula for Scaled Score Calculation

For each component, such as Verbal Ability (VA), the raw score achieved by a candidate is scaled using the following formula:

Scaled Score - VA of a candidate ‘X’ in MICAT-I/MICAT-II = (Score - VA of the candidate ‘X’/Maximum obtained by any candidate amongst those who appeared in MICAT-I/MICAT-II in VA) multiplied by Maximum Possible Score in VA in MICAT-I/MICAT-II.

2. Scaled Scores for Other Components

This method is applied to all sections of the MICAT exam, including Verbal Ability (VA), Quantitative Ability (QA), General Awareness (GA), Divergent-Convergent Reasoning (DCR), and Descriptive Test (DT)

3. Total Scaled Score

Your final MICAT score is the sum of the scaled scores across all these components. The total scaled score reflects your overall MICAT I and II performance.

Weightage Distribution for Different Rounds in MICAT 2026

After successfully clearing the MICAT 2026 entrance exam, candidates participated in two crucial rounds: the Group Exercise (GE) and the Personal Interview (PI). The performance in these rounds played a significant role in the final selection.

Here’s a breakdown of how the weightage is distributed across each round.

What After MICAT Result 2026?

After the MICAT 2026 results were declared (Phase 1 on 24 December 2025, Phase 2 on 28 February 2026, and the final merit list on 14 April 2026), shortlisted candidates moved through several important next steps. Performance in the MICAT exam determined whether candidates advanced to the next phase of the selection process. Shortlisted candidates were called for the Group Exercise (GE) and Personal Interview (PI), which were pivotal in determining the final selection.

After GE and PI, the final merit list was published on 14 April 2026; successful candidates received admission offers shortly thereafter.

The MICAT Result 2026 Final Merit List

The MICAT 2026 Final Merit List is the conclusive list that determines whether a candidate has been successfully admitted to the Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmedabad. After all selection rounds — including the MICAT exam, GE, and PI — the final merit list was published on 14 April 2026 at 4 pm on mica.ac.in, marking the conclusion of the MICAT 2026 admission cycle.

MICAT Result 2026: Counselling and Admission Process

With only 180 seats available, MICA Ahmedabad follows a rigorous selection process. The counselling process consists of two primary methods through which seats are allocated to the selected candidates: spot allotment and central counselling.

1. Spot Allotment (10% of Seats)

In this method, MICA Ahmedabad directly offers a seat to students based on their performance in the Group Exercise (GE), Personal Interview (PI), and scores from XAT, CAT, or GMAT. If a candidate is selected through spot allotment, there is no need to go through the central counselling process.

2. Central Counselling (90% of Seats)

For the remaining seats, MICA organises a central counselling process. Candidates invited to the counselling session must fill out their course preferences at MICA Ahmedabad. The final seat allotment list will be published once all the candidates have submitted their preferences.

MICAT 2026 Admission Process for International Students and NRIs

The admission process for Foreign Nationals and Non-Resident Indian (NRI) candidates applying for MICAT 2026 includes specific requirements that differentiate it from the standard procedure.

These candidates must follow a set of guidelines for a successful application.

1. GMAT Scores

Foreign Nationals and NRI applicants must submit their GMAT scores, provided the test was taken in 2018 or later. This is a mandatory requirement for their eligibility.

2. Personal Interview

Shortlisted candidates underwent the Personal Interview (PI) process. Unlike domestic candidates, the PI for Foreign Nationals and NRIs was conducted remotely through teleconference or videoconference. These interviews took place during March–April 2026.
