Does SCTIMST have scholarship programs for students?

Yes, it does. It has three programs for empowering the ST category students to help them ensure a good enough future and to provide them a plethora of opportunities so that they do not feel alienated or repressed.

It also provides a fellowship program for its postgraduate students that aims at giving students an opportunity to gain academic excellence in a sub-specialty area.

How are the placements of the Institute?

The placements and job opportunities of the institute are fairly good as the hospital associated with the college helps students in securing placements in the hospital. The placement cell conducts interviews within the college and hence, makes it convenient for both the students and gives them a ladder to climb on.

What does the institute aim for, other than the basic medical facilities? What special facilities or technologies is the institute working towards?

The Institute centers around high quality, advanced treatment of cardiovascular and neurological disorders, indigenous improvement of technologies for biomedical devices and materials, and general health training and research. The establishment offers advanced treatment utilizing present-day innovations in a few specialized territories, for example, interventional radiology, cardiovascular electrophysiology, deep brain stimulation for disorders of movement, epilepsy surgery, pediatric heart medical procedure, the base of the skull, and vascular medical procedures, to give some examples.

What are the different areas in which the institute conducts research thereby utilizing their well-educated students?

The different areas in which the institute focuses and conducts research are - Community research, Epidemiology and Biostatistics, Ethics, Gender and Health, Health Policy and Management, Technology, Biomaterials research (current strength in Polymers and ceramic materials), in other biological research areas, biomedical engineering domain.

The placement and internship opportunities for the students are very high because of the government hospital which is associated with the college itself. Also, the college is very famous for Public Health courses and has a decent placement session.

What kinds of facilities are available to the students in the college?

The students have access to a well-maintained library, sports facilities, cafeteria, auditorium, IT Infrastructure, and a well-known hospital. The classrooms are also spacious with modern equipment for learning.

Does the college offer any certificate courses or distance learning programs?

No, at present only full-time degree programs are offered by the college. However, certain Diploma programs are available in well-known fields such as Public Health (DPH).

I have failed in NEET-PG, can I still apply for MD at SCTIMST?

No, the institute SCTIMST accepts admissions to the MD program based on NEET-PG score only. You can reappear in NEET-PG and can apply for MD with a valid score in the entrance examination.
