What is JIPMER famous for?

JIPMER is a well-known and one of the most sought colleges for undergraduate and postgraduate medical courses. The total seat intake of MBBS at JIPMER Puducherry is 182. Out of these 182 Seats, 48 Seats are reserved for Puducherry Domcile and the rest 134 Seats are for the Open Category. JIPMER also offers 61 Seats for MBBS at its Karaikal Campus.

Is hostel accommodation offered at JIPMER?

JIPMER offers hostel accommodation to both girls and boys enrolled in UG and PG Courses. Separate hostels are available for boys and girls at JIPMER  on a Single Occupancy, Double Occupancy, and Triple Occupancy basis. The hostel accommodation is subject to availability and is meant for outstation candidates. The allotment of the hostels at JIPMER will be on a first-come-first-serve basis.

What is the fees for MBBS at JIPMER?

The fee for MBBS at JIPMER is INR 14,920 for the First Year including the caution deposit and admission fees. From the second year onwards, the candidates need to pay INR 6,770 as the annual fee for MBBS at JIPMER.

Is JIPMER a government or private college?

JIPMER is a public institute funded by the Central Government of India. JIPMER originated in the year 1823 as the Ecole de Medicine de Pondicherry established by the French Government. The institute was renamed as Dhanvantari Medical College in 1956 at the time of de facto transfer of Pondicherry to the Government of India. JIPMER was established in its current campus in Pondicherry in 1964.
