Medical Colleges in West Bengal: NEET Cut-Off

MBBS admissions in West Bengal are based on NEET scores and are divided across different quotas for both government and private colleges. The cutoff marks vary depending on the type of seat and candidate category.

For government medical colleges, two central quotas apply:

  • The 15% All India Quota (AIQ) is handled at the national level, where students from any state can apply.
  • 85% State Quota is reserved for candidates belonging to West Bengal, with the state health department announcing college- and category-wise cutoffs.

In the case of private medical colleges, there are three types of seats:

  • 50% State Quota, available for West Bengal residents.
  • 35% Management Quota, open to all Indian citizens.
  • 15% NRI Quota, reserved for non-resident Indian candidates.

Below, you'll find category-wise and college-specific NEET cutoffs for each type of quota. If your NEET score falls within the given rank or marks range, your chances of getting admission to that college are strong.

Admission Process for Medical Colleges in West Bengal

Admission to MBBS programs in West Bengal is based on NEET-UG scores. The Department of Health & Family Welfare (DHFW), Kolkata, oversees the counselling process for 85% state quota seats in government colleges and 100% seats in private medical colleges, conducted through an online counselling system.

The remaining 15% All India Quota (AIQ) seats in government medical colleges are filled through counselling conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) at mcc.nic.in.

For state quota admissions, candidates need to register on the official West Bengal counselling portal: wbmcc.nic.in/ug.

Once the registration and application steps are completed, a state merit list is published, listing candidates eligible for the next phase of the admission process. Shortlisted applicants are then required to fill in their preferences for colleges and courses.

Admissions are allotted based on several factors, including:

  • NEET rank,
  • Category-wise reservation,
  • Number of available seats,
  • Preferences submitted during counselling.

Finally, candidates who are allotted a seat must report to the assigned medical college for document verification and to complete the admission formalities.
